Some practical steps parents can take to encourage children to love Qur’an & dedicate time to learning it in-shaa Allah.
1. Lead by example
Parents should read and recite the Qur’an in front of their children as often as possible, so the children can see how important the Qur’an is to their parents.
2. Encourage frequent recitation
Parents should encourage their children to recite the Qur’an as often as possible, even if it’s just a few verses at a time. Consistency is key.
Don’t forget leadership by example!
3. Make it exciting
Parents can make memorizing the Qur’an fun by organizing competitions, rewards, or prizes for the children who memorize the most verses. Teach them to compete in doing good deeds. Tarbiyyah in action!
4. Set achievable goals
Parents should set achievable goals for their children, such as memorizing one verse per day or per week, and celebrate their achievements when they meet those goals.
Be realistic & don’t make it overwhelming. Set goals they can realistically be consistent with, no matter how slow their pace, in-shaa Allâh that will be more encouraging.
5. Provide support
Parents should be supportive of their children’s efforts to learn & memorize the Qur’an by providing them with the necessary resources, such as a timetable, teacher or a memorization program, and helping them with their recitation and pronunciation.
6. Make it a family activity
Parents can make memorizing the Qur’an a family activity by reciting together, in turns, or listening to recitations together.
7. Make it a habit
Parents should encourage their children to make reciting and memorizing the Qur’an a daily habit, and incorporate it into their daily routine in-shaa Allah.
Remember; practice makes you better & better.
May Allah continue to bless you and your family with the barakah of Al-Qur-an till Jannah.
